As part of the renewed JPM Vasarely Museum’s anniversary season, Pierre Vasarely — the grandson of Victor Vasarely and patron of the 2026 jubilee year — will hold a special English-language guided tour through the museum’s newly reimagined exhibition spaces.
The 50-year-old JPM Vasarely Museum is undergoing renovations, and during this time, until March 22, 2026, Victor Vasarely’s works can be viewed approximately 200 meters from the exhibition venue, in the large temporary exhibition hall of the JPM Modern Hungarian Art Gallery, presented in a new concept and featuring numerous works from the collection of hundreds of pieces that were not previously included in the permanent exhibition.
At the initiative of the Janus Pannonius Museum, the cultural programs for 2026 will be organized as a unified city-wide season under the title “Vasarely 2026 – Pécs.”
On the day of Hungarian Culture, Pécs launched the Vasarely 2026 – Pécs anniversary season. In 2026, the city will celebrate a double anniversary: it will mark 50 years since the opening of the JPM Vasarely Museum, which remains one of the most important collections of Hungarian and international Op Art to this day, as well as the 120th anniversary of the birth in Pécs of Victor Vasarely, one of the most influential figures in modern visual art.
