A Life in Colour – Claire Vasarely Retrospective Exhibition can be seen at the JPM Museum Gallery (4 Káptalan Street, Pécs). This is the first time that Claire Vasarely’s life’s work can be seen in such completeness. The exhibition includes all the works that the couple entrusted to the Pécs museum, supplemented by a selection of graphic works, paintings, textile designs and archive photographs from the Vasarely Foundation in Aix-en-Provence.

Mirages/Káprázatok – puppet reading theatre for ages 14 and over
– Compiled, written and performed by Ágnes Dékány
– Piano: Bendegúz Horváth, student at the Martyn Ferenc Art School in Pécs
– Music consultant: Klára Szalai, deputy director of the Martyn Ferenc Art School in Pécs

Source material for the overview of Claire Vasarely’s life and art included period newspaper articles, a few photographs taken in Sándor Bortnyik’s Workshop, Pierre Vasarely’s book on Victor Vasarely’s novelistic century, and a work published by the Fondation Vasarely in 2025.

After combing through the data and documents gathered in this way, the day came when, in a room covered with Claire Vasarely’s works, hours of note-taking gave shape to intuition, and the reading performance was born under the title Mirages/Káprázatok.

In this mosaic-like performance, colours, moods, vignettes, tales and short dialogues, accompanied by piano, evoke moments from Claire Vasarely’s life and some of her works.

The artist’s drawn, painted and woven tales conjure up colourful flowers, magnificent knights and rich stories before us. All we have to do is delight in the thousand-coloured mirages.

Ágnes Dékány is a puppeteer who was a member of the Bóbita Puppet Theatre company in Pécs from 1985 to 1991. In 1992 she founded her own one-woman puppet theatre, with which she has performed in educational institutions and at cultural events to this day. Since 2011 she has also created textile pictures on the side, which she has shown in three solo exhibitions.
