It is no coincidence that the venue was neither the usual Lauber Dezső Sports Hall nor the club’s own sports ground — in the new season, the Vasút will take to the court in a kit that evokes the work of the Pécs-born artist as part of the Vasarely 2026 Pécs jubilee year. The white home kit features classic Vasarely patterns across the top, while the away kit is essentially its inverse.
Emese Iványi, Head of Marketing and Public Relations at the Janus Pannonius Múzeum, and Zoltán Sági, managing director of PVSK-Panthers, both stressed the importance of sport meeting culture. Sági noted that although Victor Vasarely was born 120 years ago, a few years before PVSK was founded, the club has now also reached its 107th year — a sign that both are woven organically into the history of Pécs.
Following the opening remarks, team captain Nemanja Djordjevics and his deputy Mátyás Molnár presented the club’s new kit together with Emese Iványi (the shorts, incidentally, continue a process begun a few years ago by featuring silhouettes of Pécs’s landmark buildings and statues). The event closed with a guided tour of the museum, giving the young athletes a chance to get to know Vasarely’s work more closely.
