Art and wine draw on the same source, and Vylyan has long believed that they speak a common language. As wine sponsor of the Vasarely Museum in its 50th year, Vylyan Winery has created a white and a red Vasarely wine for the jubilee year. The labels were designed by Luca Kovács, a second-year graphic design student at the Faculty of Arts of the University of Pécs, who won the branding competition. The concept and creative direction come from Mónika Debreczeni, Creative Director.
At the celebration recalling the museum’s 1976 opening, we raised a glass to the reopening of the JPM Vasarely Museum in Pécs with these wines, joined by the master’s grandson, Pierre Vasarely!

Just as a wine changes from vintage to vintage, so does art. What does a university student artist make of Vasarely’s legacy today? At the opening of the jubilee exhibition Vasarely: Future Echoes at the Nádor Gallery of the University of Pécs, the results of the professional competitions were announced and the prizes presented. Among other things, the winners took home a bottle each of the limited-edition red and white Vylyan wines in Vasarely livery.

We will next meet and raise our glasses on 6 June, when the Vasarely Museum in Pécs turns 50. We are celebrating with a full day of birthday events. The highlight is the opening of A Life in Colour – Claire Vasarely Retrospective Exhibition, which for the first time presents the artist’s complete Pécs collection as a stand-alone show.
