Created especially for the composition, a unique visual programme invites audiences into the creative world of one of the most influential visual and design artists of the twentieth century through the tools of contemporary visual storytelling.
The visual narrative follows the visionary paths of Vasarely’s artistic thinking, from his work as a graphic designer and his innovative image-making experiments to the world-famous works that established his distinctive artistic language. Animated visual études accompanying the individual movements of the composition feature representative works from the Pécs Vasarely Collection, presenting the most significant visual experiments of the artist’s career. Together, they trace the major directions and discoveries of Vasarely’s artistic programme while highlighting its enduring influence on contemporary visual culture.
The programme is presented through the collaboration of the University of Pécs Faculty of Music and Visual Arts and the Janus Pannonius Museum, celebrating three anniversaries at once: the 120th anniversary of Victor Vasarely’s birth, the 50th anniversary of the Vasarely Museum Pécs, and the 30th anniversary of the University of Pécs Faculty of Music and Visual Arts.
