The Visual Arts Centre at the m21 Gallery in Zsolnay Quarter presents contemporary fine art works that reflect on Vasarely's legacy and 21st-century visual culture through a reinterpretation of op-art. Alongside the contemporary works, the exhibition also features rarely seen and lesser-known pieces by Victor Vasarely.

In 2026, we mark the 120th anniversary of Victor Vasarely’s birth. This jubilee holds special significance for Pécs, as the world-renowned artist was born here.

The Visual Arts Centre at the m21 Gallery in Zsolnay Quarter presents contemporary fine art works that reflect on Vasarely’s legacy and 21st-century visual culture through a reinterpretation of op-art. Alongside the contemporary works, the exhibition also features rarely seen and lesser-known pieces by Victor Vasarely.

The exhibition also serves as a preparatory event for the 4th Pécs Visual Arts Biennial, whose central theme will be “the city”. A symposium connected to the programme will take place in September 2026, focusing on Vasarely’s work The Coloured City.
